Windows 8 RealPlayer Daily Videos

Microsoft’s Windows 8 has finally arrived and with it comes an innovative way to think about how you use your computer. The new Start screen has taken a fresh approach to viewing files and apps with a graphically rich tile-based design. Keeping that in mind, we created a new RealPlayer app designed to take advantage of Windows 8, called RealPlayer Daily Videos. You can get it now for free in the Windows Store.

Finding videos to watch online can be time consuming. RealPlayer Daily Videos does the heavy lifting for you, delivering the most popular user-generated and free videos directly to the RealPlayer Daily Videos app. See a video you like in the RealPlayer Daily Videos app, but don’t have time to watch it? No problem, just bookmark the link and it will be placed in the Watch Later category.

To make it even easier to find the videos you want, RealPlayer Daily Videos features Channels dedicated to categories such as travel, education, pets, politics, and more. You can also see videos provided by a specific website such as the Huffington Post. Check out the Most Watched Videos category in any channel to see new videos daily.

Make A Splash

The RealPlayer Daily Videos app for Windows 8 delivers a fresh experience and surfaces new videos daily that you can bookmark and watch later.

REALPLAYER EXPRESS AND WINDOWS 8

The look and feel of RealPlayer Daily Videos shares a similar look to the tile-based design of the Windows 8 Start screen, displaying videos in both large and small tiles. Just click on a video to play it and see more options.

Since RealPlayer Daily Videos works seamlessly with the Search charm in Windows 8, it’s easy to search the web for a particular video without ever having to leave the app. Once you find the video you want, use the app to watch it instantly, or save it for later with the Watch Later functionality.

Get a closer look at what RealPlayer Daily Videos for Windows 8 has to offer in this video:

MAKE SOCIAL CONNECTIONS WITH REALPLAYER EXPRESS

Using RealPlayer Daily Videos to discover and organize online videos is just part of the fun. See a video you want to share with friends? I have windows8 and I have the latest version of realplayer. It is not letting me download youtube or any videos on realplayer. I even open the web browser in realplayer and then go to the youtube site. still no luck, and the download button doesnt appear. I disabled the pepperflash in firefox, and I also tried using explorer. Still no luck! Maybe the problem is in my control settings? Help!

We just released a new version of RealPlayer. Just download the latest version of RealPlayer and it will work with Firefox without you needing to change any settings.

I purchased realplayer plus and I’m thinking about purchasing a new computer with windows 8. Will my plus account transfer and work with windows 8? also how do I transfer my very extensive music and video library to my new computer without having to make a million cds and dvds?

11 RealPlayer December 12, 2012 at 10:04 am

When you purchase your new Windows 8 computer, simply install RealPlayer for the desktop and sign-in with your RealPlayer Plus account information and you’ll have access to it. As for the videos and music, since they are saved on your computer’s hard drive have the place where you purchase your computer move all your files over from the old computer to the new computer. You can also use an online storage site such as Microsoft’s SkyDrive and upload your videos and music to it and then download them to your new computer via SkyDrive. Let us know if you need any more help.

Hi, I have Windows 8 and RealDownloader appears to be working finebut when open it’s stuck in the taskbar. I click on the icon and the window doesn’t come up so I can’t follow the progress of my downloads. Any advice?

19 Real Team January 28, 2013 at 11:44 am

Hi Craig,
Several customers are experiencing the same issue. Our support team is aware of this and working on high priority to resolve it at the earliest. However, I don’t have an ETA in this regard. Once it is fixed, you will be notified by our support team.

However please try this work around it:

1. Right click on the desktop & choose ‘Screen Resolution’ (Choose Display Properties if it is XP)
2. This would show the number of monitors available for display (Below is my set up)
3. Lower the screen resolution.
4. Tried to download the video and then right click on Task Manager and click on RealDownloader and resize it.
5. Then try to change the screen resolution to high and try to download the video.
6. Restart the computer & attempt to download a video

If you have additional questions, email us directly at help@real.com.

How can I connect my PC to my home AV? I’m a bit technically challenged BTW. I don’t seem to have an HDMI out from my HP Pavillion. RealPlayer is installed on the PC. Guessing there has to be a way…

23 Alane Jewel February 9, 2013 at 6:31 am

Hi Clay,

Your PC should have a VGA or DVI or HDMI port. Please contact your computer manufacturer to know which port is available on your HP Pavillion. You can use one of these available ports to connect your Laptop with your AV.

If HDMI port is not available in your laptop. We suggest you to contact your AV manufacturer and check whether your AV supports VGA or DVI port.

If you have additional questions, email us at help@real.com.

Realplayer trimmer doesn’t work. Videos won’t load but I have audio. This seems to happen with mp4 videos.
Tried a flv video and that worked okay.

64 RealPlayer Team June 7, 2013 at 8:37 am

Hi Steve,

Sorry for the inconvenience, this is due to changes made at YouTube and we are working with YouTube to resolve the issue. However, here are some steps we think might resolve the issue.

Workaround steps for Internet Explorer

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Tools
3. Go to Manage Add-ons
4. Disable Shockwave Flash Object
5. Close & reopen Internet Explorer
6. Go to http://www.youtube.com and play the video you want to download
7. It will prompt to ‘Upgrade Adobe Flash Player’ (Ignore this message)
8. Attempt to download. Now files should get downloaded and are playable

Please be informed that we have already tested these steps with few customers and it worked on their computers. Even after disabling the Shockwave Flash Object plug-in, the YouTube videos are playing in Internet Explorer. If the videos doesn’t play, kindly enable the plugin and wait for our team to find a permanent fix for this issue.

If that doesn’t work, send an email to help@real.com so that we can help you further.

65 Dale June 12, 2013 at 12:09 pm

I downloaded and installed RealPlayer specifically so that I could download and save this Flash video from Mens’ Health (http://www.menshealth.com/deltafit/3-best-moves-prevent-back-pain?cm_mmc=EOWNL-_-1281626-_-05012013-_-MovesBackPain-hed). However, when following the instructions as outlined above, hovering the cursor over the movie does nothing other than the movie continues to play. There is no change, no box, no instruction, no download option, etc.
How can this video be downloaded with RealPlayer?

66 RealPlayer Team June 12, 2013 at 1:55 pm

Hi Dale,

RealPlayer can download unprotected online streaming videos. However, we respect copyright so if the video is protected RealPlayer will not download it.

I paid for Real Player Plus and it won’t let me down load it without paying for it again. Website interface is unfriendly. It gave me some cloud application that I don’t care about but I just want to watch dvds with my Windows 8 machine. Frustrated after paying 40 bucks for zilch. I miss Windows 7. Windows 8 just brings me headaches and white knuckles.

Sorry that you are having trouble with downloading videos!

We had an issue with downloading videos using Google Chrome 31 and we are happy to report that the issue has been fixed in the new build of RealPlayer Cloud (that is RealPlayer 17), released on Dec. 18. If you have RealPlayer Cloud or RealPlayer 16 (and are in the US or Canada, running Windows 7 or 8), you can download the new build (at no charge).

Note: If you live outside of the US and Canada, or are using Windows XP/Vista, rest assured we will be making this fix available for RealPlayer 16 in early 2014.

Please write back to us with the version of RealPlayer installed in your PC. To find the version, follow this steps:

1. Open RealPlayer.
2. Click on RealPlayer logo.
3. Click on ‘Help’.
4. Select ‘About RealPlayer’.

If you have additional questions, you can also send an email to help@real.com

my realplayer downloader always freezes up or stop downloading

92 RealPlayer Team January 16, 2014 at 11:35 pm

Sorry for any inconvenience!

One workaround is to check whether a valid download path is set in RealDownloader. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click the Start button at the bottom left of your computer screen, and navigate to All Programs > RealNetworks > RealDownloader.
2. In the RealDownloader window, click the RealDownloader logo and select Preferences.
3. In the Preferences window, notice the path listed in “Save local file to. ”
4. If you see anything which says like “Libraries\Videos\RealPlayer Downloads\” click on “Browse” button, select the folder “RealPlayer Downloads” (If you don’t see any such folder, create a folder by this name) and click on “Select Folder”. Then Click on “OK” button.
5. Now try to download videos.

If you additional question, please send an email to help@real.com

Cant get Realplayer Plus to work on Windows 8. First let me say that Windows 8 is crap! Never had any issues with Windows 7 or XP. No matter what I try, Realplayer Plus 16 will download but not function. I get an error message every time and Windows shut down the Realplayer program. Very frustrating!

why cannot installer realpayerdownloaderfree?

102 Brinton Felixraja May 7, 2014 at 8:36 am

Sorry, we are no longer distributing RealDownloader, as it does not support newer browsers and file formats. However, you can install the latest version of RealPlayer to access the feature of RealDownloader and more. If you have Windows 7 or higher, you will get additional benefits — being able to store videos in the Cloud and share videos across multiple devices.

You can download the free RealPlayer Basic software from the following website:

You can download and install the latest version of RealPlayer Cloud to download online videos.

RealPlayer Cloud is the newest version of RealPlayer, available for customers who have an operating system of Windows 7 or higher. RealPlayer Cloud includes all the functions of RealPlayer 16, as well as allowing you to upload and share videos, play them across your various devices, and watch them on your TV using Chromecast, Roku, or Amazon Fire TV.

Use of the Cloud storage and sharing features is completely optional. We think it’s a cool–and private–way to share your favorite videos with friends and family, but there is no requirement to upload your videos to the Cloud if you don’t want to.

Click this link and then select ‘Get RealPlayer Cloud Free’ button to download: http://www.real.com/realplayer.html

After it is installed, make sure to enable the RealDownloader plugin. To do that, follow the instructions given in the below link:

https://realnetworks.zendesk.com/entries/23689856

Hope this helps.

When I try to watch a video with real player on my windows 8.1 laptop that is on Facebook I can’t see it. It goes to the page but all I get is a blank screen with a blue line at the top. I am using the desktop but when I go to start screen it does the same thing. It works fine on my windows 7 laptop. What do I need to do to get it working?

106 Brinton Felixraja July 1, 2014 at 8:33 am

Sorry for the trouble.

To fix this issue, please provide the following:

> Whether it is a downloaded file or online videos?
> If it is a online video, are you using RealPlayer browser or other browses ( like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome)?
> If it is a downloaded video, what is the file format?
> Does it happens for all file formats?
> What operating system you’re using?
> What version of RealPlayer is installed?

To find the version:

a. Open the RealPlayer software.
b. From the RealPlayer menu in the upper left, choose “Help” option.
c. Choose “About RealPlayer” inside the “Help” menu. A window opens.
d. Provide the information listed beside “Version” near the top of the “About RealPlayer” window. These numbers indicate the version of RealPlayer currently installed on the computer (i.e. “RealPlayer 16.0.3.51″ or “RealPlayer 17.0.11.0″).

The more specific you are, the better I will be able to assist you. Awaiting for your response!

If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com

Today I installed Real Player on my computer, which is new and I didn’t have it on this computer before. It turned out to be Real Player Cloud. I don’t know what a cloud is or does, but I had to download it to get the player. When done downloading, I found that the download included something called ASK. ASK took over my computer and changed my home page, which I did not want. I changed it back and wanted to uninstall ASK from my computer using the control panel, but it would not let me. Eventually I found an article online which told me how to disable its functions, which I did. Only when I uninstalled Real Player Cloud was I then able to uninstall ASK using the control panel. Surely you must know ASK behaves as a virus. How dare you allow the installation of a virus like ASK with your product??? I once liked Real Audio, but now I cannot take the chance. By the way, what else was installed with Real Player and ASK? I want to uninstall everything I got from you.

118 Brinton Felixraja December 8, 2014 at 4:29 am

The Ask toolbar and search engine are optional add-ons when you install RealPlayer Cloud. All you have to do is uncheck the Ask toolbar and search check box while installing RealPlayer Cloud. In this way, you can install RealPlayer Cloud to download, watch, upload and share the videos.

If you no longer want to use the toolbar or search engine, you can uninstall it using your Control Panel and then remove the extensions from each web browser that you use. To uninstall, follow the instructions given in this link: https://realnetworks.zendesk.com/entries/91748483

We will take it as a feedback. If you wish, you can reinstall RealPlayer Cloud without the Ask toolbar and search.

If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com
