How To Watch NASCAR Live Online

by Joe Kukura on November 10, 2012

watch nascar liveThe race for the Sprint Cup heads into its final two races, and it’s easy for fans to watch NASCAR online. The next couple of Sundays will determine the winner of the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup championship, and online race fans may be wondering how they can watch NASCAR online or listen to NASCAR online. We’ve rounded up the websites you can use to watch NASCAR live video and listen to live audio streams below, and explain how to watch NASCAR online live for the decisive Phoenix 500 and Homestead 400 races.

Nine drivers are still mathematically in contention for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, but the two leaders are five-time Cup winner Jimmie Johnson and his up-and-coming young rival Brad Keselowski. Johnson and Keselowski are Numbers One and Two on the NASCAR driver standings, with just seven points separating them – a gap that can be easily closed in a single race. The Phoenix AdvoCare 500 runs Sunday Nov 11, 2012 at 3 p.m. EST, and the Ford EcoBoost 400 runs Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 3 p.m. EST. Both crucial races are available to watch via a computer, tablet, or smartphone, from green flag to checkered flag.

NASCAR is full of near misses and a few collisions. Use RealPlayer to create your own instant replay videos. Download RealPlayer and then hover the mouse over the top right corner of the racing video and click Download This Video to watch the action again on your computer.

WATCH NASCAR ONLINE LIVE

The two remaining races will both be webcast live on WatchESPN, the site that lets you watch ESPN online. Of course, the service requires an active cable TV subscription, and is not available to online viewers who don’t subscribe to cable television. If you do subscribe to cable, you can WatchESPN free by visiting the website on a computer or on tablets and smartphones via the WatchESPN mobile app.

You can watch NASCAR live on WatchESPN, but the races will not be available to watch on demand afterwards. Online viewers do, however, get access to the pre-race shows “NASCAR Now” and “NASCAR Sprint Cup Countdown.”  NASCAR Nationwide Series races, the minor league circuit for NASCAR, are also webcast live on WatchESPN for the remaining Saturdays of the season.

LISTEN TO NASCAR ONLINE

You don’t need satellite radio to listen to NASCAR live. Anyone with a broadband or wireless connection can listen to NASCAR free each week  by tuning into the “The Voice of NASCAR,” on the Motor Racing Network. NASCAR fans can listen on a computer by visiting the Motor Racing Network web page and clicking the Listen Live or Audio tab. Similarly, smartphone and tablet users can also tune-in and listen to NASCAR online by visiting the Motor Racing Networks mobile site and selecting the Live Broadcast Stream option on their respective devices.

NASCAR SPRINT CUP MOBILE APP

NASCAR’s Championship cup is named after Sprint. As a result, Sprint customers get some free extra NASCAR perks, just like they get free NBA games on mobile devices. These free NASCAR perks are packed into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile app for Android or iOS, free to all Sprint subscribers. The app does not provide a live video feed – only video highlights afterwards – but it does deliver a free audio feed of the race, plus live in-car audio for all 43 drivers in the race. You can get in your favorite driver’s head – literally – and hear their conversations with their pit crew, or switch from driver to driver as the race takes unexpected turns. Sprint users also get a fantastic condensed video highlight version of the race on demand afterwards, plus access to live video of the “NASCAR on SPEED” shows that air on the SPEED channel.

Will Jimmie Johnson cruise to his sixth Sprint Cup? Or will the Big Keselowki abide by the Cup on the chase’s final Sunday? What apps do you non-Sprint subscribers use to follow stock car racing? Rev up your opinions in the comments below.
